Magic and Melee

Does anyone have any opinions on whether there are any viable melee weapon/magic combinations, aside from monk (unarmed/mind) and whip (whip/air/death)? I know such combos might not win lots of lqs, but they might be fun anyway. I'm not a fan of whips, so is going monk my only viable option?

I know you could group spam healers and mana shielders in here, but that's not quite what I'm talking about.

a mind monk would be alot more fun - would add another character in that guild, but a pixie monk is weak

could go for another race, but the zee clan is racist for pixies

Yes, if I went monk, then the guild bonuses would be nice, especially if I was relying on that +10 mind magic.

Thank you, this is helpful. I'll probably try both a mind (rak) monk as well as a weapon/element character in mages' guild.
