Default Paladin Skill Set (for all you wannabe's)

Ok, so I know Paladins are slightly old now, but if you don't have a Hall of Famer yet, and you're looking for the easy way to level 25, here it is.

The average Paladin uses self-casted resist and spam healing using minor healing to survive and minimize costs of required supplies, such as potions and scrolls. Here is an easy setup, guidelines, and tactics. . .

Level 20 Human Paladin
Swords: 20 (Don't train any higher! Your level is the limit.)
Incantation: 14
Enchantment: 5*
Lore: 4
Life Magic: 5
Merchant: 5
Spirit Travel: 5
Strength: 2
Meditation: 10
Fire Magic: 5*
Water Magic: 5*
* = Train before you guild.

Level 25 Human Paladin
Swords: 25 + 10 = 35
Incantation: 14
Enchantment: 5 - 5 = 0
Lore: 4
Life Magic: 5 + 5 = 10
Merchant: 5
Spirit Travel: 5
Strength: 15 + 5 = 20
Meditation: 10
Fire Magic: 5 - 5 = 0
Water Magic: 5 - 5 = 0
Find Weakness: 2

Equipment:
Ring of Fire Resistance
Ring of Cold Resistance
Amulet of Death Protection
Robe of agility +10
Fancy white gloves of agility +10
Boots of agility +10
Crown of agility +10
Cloak of agility +10
Massive diamond sword/electrum sword
Girdle of Constitution

Tactics:
Case resist fire (40%), resist cold (40%), resist shock (20%), bravery (20%), and resist petrify (20%). Never let these run out. They are your only protection vs. spells, other than your rings! The bravery/petrify/shock resists are plenty for random dungeoning, really.

Note: If you can get a ring of enhanced protection, you should train 5 or 6 earth to overpower its negatives, but then again, if you have a ring of enhanced protection, you probably shouldn't be reading a paladin guide to becoming a hall of famer. . .

To heal:
alias v cast minor healing ; cast minor healing
That there costs 2 mana for you, and heals +50. With 10 life, you're set. Spam that alias, and your 10 meditation should keep up with you. Run into a shoggoth, or monopod? Anyone with +40 dodge can kill monopods extremely easily, the acid recoil is a joke. Shoggoths die in 5-6 hits, just hit your alias a few times while attacking, don't wait for the damage - expect it. Besides, you should have +300 health by now!

Remember to have all the resist spells mentioned, as well as dispel paralysis, confusion, and slow and cure blindness. Spam the dispels when you need to - they cost 1 mana each!

Places to train:
1. Random dungeons! Best places for huge experience and loot.
2. Need a small experience boost? Head for Noir Cave.
3. Many quest areas offer tough monsters in massive quantities.
4. Toys in the Attic is an excellent place to get some experience.
5. Milk the Arch Dracolich! Wait for it to summon ghasts, kill them - great exp!
6. Remember to explore - if you find a good area, keep it! Don't share it!

Enjoy <.<

i see flaws in this skill set and you cannot deny them 0.0

1. 2 strength trained by level 20...a lot of your damage is done using strength and swords, yes you get some from guild, and you can use a potion, but you are looking at like 10 strength or so...id go for 20 strength by level 20.

2. enchantment..not needed by any paladin, even the ones who cast their own resists...if you have some medatation, and use self casted resists, and use items when casting, then by the time you cast each resist, you will have plenty of mana for the next one, and still have mana to use afterwards, to go training right away

3. i see that you do not even have the items you can use during resist casting..this would eliminate all of your trained elements(Ex.: wear 2 rings of fire/water, amulet of water, shield of pwer, and ember/glacier whip for casting those resists, and you have your 40% resist spell) no elements trained

4. spirit travel is worthless really, unless you go to at least 10, and only if you die more then you can count on your fingers to lose xp...seriously, 1 death every once in awhile can do a player good

5. 2 minor heals does not give you 50+ hp back with 20 life >_> you might get 40, 50 would be the max, and that is with 20 life...but that is pushing it...life helps minor healing but not to that extreme, and an experienced player/wizard could probably vouch for this as well

6. everything else seems to be pretty solid, though id still wear black dsm, and take the few bungles(can still heal effectively while confused, and bungling, even against beholders, i do it all the time on my spam healers) bravery, and petrification, and death resist are the only essential resists, then fire resist, is nice to have something..cold not so much unless you are in a place that is specifically designed with cold monsters/spells...

I agree with Kingfry though, to tell the truth I like brown dsms, stll bungle but it's nice to have on when grinding for xp. But, black dsm is better to wear though if you RD alot, running into all those monos and what not.

I used to wear brown dsms in RD's (as in my hofpic), but they're not to good at stopping confusion

Eh, it's for ****s -_- who need the elements for resists 'cause they can't get scrolls easily, and cast their enchantments at the last second <.<

Brown is all that I use, don't even bother anymore to change to black when fighting shogs or monos elec weapons kill shogs so fast that it isn't worth the trouble. and when killing monos they never confuse me so I can kill them easy enough by just walking away for a moment. The only confusion that seems to be able to penetrate brown is reaper confuse and that's very rare.

Why waste inventory space on uni horns when I can use it for merchandise. And dispelling won't work with my bungle rate (over 90%)

Hah, only 1 bag, besides, the only items I actually need are 1 for all item slots, 5 bags of clubs, 1 bag for horns 1 bag for funny things and the other of the 80 slots are for bags of loot=]

k, change that to 20 FW right now. D:<<<

train 7 in fire and water for your resists.

I dunno if they're still around, but make an alias to equip shield of power, ember sword, fire magic amulet (glacier and water magic ammy also) then cast your resists. gives you recoil immunity. :\

edit: heh, I add 1 to Blacksmith so I can see how damaged my swords are.

I've got 10 spirit travel trained and I'm ever so pleased with it. ST brought the joy back into the game for me cause now I'm not all that concerned about dying(not at all actually) and can go explore more.

Xp is almost as easily gained as it is lost. I will admit though, having to regain XP is frustrating sometimes. But, I still would never train in spirit travel, you could find better skills to invest those points in.

Basically, wasting points in ST makes you weaker, when they can go into much more worthwhile skills and if you train ST, then you know you are going to die alot or at least plan to. I can see training ST as a filler for much higher levels, but for the most part...

Human Pallie:
4 skill build:[/size:f807c]

[b:f807c]WHAT YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO DO!:[/b:f807c][/size:f807c]
1: move with the number pad
2: have a basic understanding of when might be a good time to hit your alias's.

[b:f807c]Human/Halfling
Level 25 (100 skill points)[/b:f807c]

19 swords (+10 max in guild +6 from 2x rings of perfect swordsman) = 35
10 Strength (+2 from girdle +5 from potion +1 from amulet +2 from gauntlets) = 20
25 Find weakness
12 incantation
20 life (+5 from guild) = 25
10 meditation
1 lore
3 merchant

[b:f807c]Equipment:[/b:f807c]
2 rings of perfect swordsman
1 black DSM
Gauntlets of power
ammy of strength
10 swords (at level 10 get 10 mithril swords then at level 20 get 10 diamond swords)
1 belt of strength
bracers
+10 dodge hat (if you can manage it get a crown of Samhoc)
+10 dodge boots
5 or more bags of great holding (more is always better)
10 scabberds
potions of free action and potions of bravery

[b:f807c]Spells:[/b:f807c]
minor heal
life blade

[b:f807c]Tactics:[/b:f807c]
Healing is key. With all that life trained you will never die unless your client crashes and does not log you off the game. in high lag situations just hold down your alias. Because you have that bungling armour you won't always cast the spell. (hence all the incantation.) At all levels use lifeblade on your sword if you are going up against undead. have scrolls of static and flame/frost blade in a bag for using in RD's.

[b:f807c]Alias's:[/b:f807c]
alias h cast minor healing;cast minor healing;cast minor healing;cast minor healing
alias 1 cast lifeblade

[b:f807c]
Note:[/b:f807c]
This is a basic beginers paladin. from here you could train spirit and get resist curse, or train elements and cast low level spells. Thsi is not designed to be the most powerful paladin. Instead it is designed as the most basic form of a paladin. You can use this and customize it to your needs, and prefereces.
