Default Notepad and .arch files

I see that we can view .arch files (i.e. monsters), but... How about getting the notepad into an .arch file? I haven't downloaded anything besides the Map Editor itself... Im really just playing around, you know? Trying to get the arch file to work with a small critter I made. critter.N critter.E critter.W critter.S and the notepad file. It's the exact copy of the chicken that came with the Editor...

And while Im talking about monsters, what's the AC stand for when you go "Edit Monster", under the "stats" tab?

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question. However, I'm going to take a guess as to what I think you meant - If you want to use notepad to make .arch files you have to save as -> whatever.arch. If you don't type out the .arch in the file name when you save as it will be a .txt file and unusable in the mapeditor.

As far as AC, it's just a form of defense. It's something you add to armor and monsters to make it harder for you to hit them.

I see!!! Heh... Me stoopid. I have been adding ".arch" at the end of the name, but... Thanks Arilou. You made me remember about the "Files of type"...

Yea. I went "critter.arch", but because I didnt touch the Text Documents... Heehee... Thanks Arilou. I spent a long while on trying to figure that out... But I did learn a few other things, though, so it wasnt all in naught. Thanks Arilou.

Oh. And... The monster's set HP is "0". Is that like... We have to program the monster's HP ourselves, or is it, like 0 is like the default for whatever... Yea, why is the HP "0"?

0 is the default. It means the creator of the arch file did not put in a set hp and the server will do it based on it's level and stats. In general, this is the best way to do it (the server knows best) and one would usually only set the hp for a monster if they wanted to make players take longer/shorter to kill it than the server allowed. Certain quest bosses are an example of where this might be necessary.

I had a question here about why I couldn't change the arch file. Turns out I wasnt editing the arch file, but rather the notepad file I had there. Heh... Thanks for answering my other questions.
