A good mage with death and fire,

at level 10:

10 fire
10 meditation
4 lore
7 evocation
7 spirit magic
2 death.

--> important spells are magic whip, fireball, fear and mana shield

level 20:

15 fire
15 meditation
4 lore
7 evocation
7 spirit magic
20 death
7 whips
5 life

--> spells magic whip, flame blade, fireball, resists, fear and mana shield

level 25:

20 fire
15 meditation
4 lore
7 evocation
7 spirit magic
25 death
17 whips
5 life

--> same spells as before.

I might have done the math wrong but assuming I did it right this should be a pretty easy mage to train up to a higher level. If you get into the mages guild you can probably untrain some meditation and put it into whips or evocation. Other good spells if you have more lore points, or if you make your own skill set are strength (great for loot) bless and identify(perfect for long RD trips at higher level).
