I enjoy fantasy/sci-fi, best things I've ever read are Dune (series), anything by Haruki Murakami (Kafka on the Shore, Wind-up Bird Chronicles, Wild Sheep Chase).

Never heard of GoodReads, though.

Goodreads.com is like the facebook for bookworms. It's a good site with a lot of groups, bookclubs, reading lists, reviews, and a lot of book giveaways.

I just finished Dune a couple of days ago...what do you think of the rest of the series, Xerxes? I've had a couple people tell me not to even bother...that the rest weren't as good.

I actually read the prequels before I read Dune itself. The rest of the novels are incredible, don't listen to anyone else, forge ahead! It's some amazing passionate storytelling, and the political morals are still highly relevant today. And yeah, I recommend the prequels, too.
