Blade spells and Mage's guild XP

Does anyone know if there is any way to get Mage Guild XP by using blade spells? I've tried it a couple times and have come up empty.

I assume it would not work if I got 5 in a melee weapon (enough to hit, but also get "You hit but do no damage" on higher level monsters) and use a whole bunch of, say, fire magic.

I know I can just join Axemen, Paladin, or Rangers and use some fire magic there, but just trying to figure out if Mages works at all.

You get Mage Guild XP when you kill with a magic whip. You can cast blade spells on the magic whip, besides life blade and vampire blade.

I've tested it before, but it doesn't work (unless you cast it on magic whip)

sidenote: You gain guild xp with shield spells.

Yeah the weapon itself that kills decides guild xp, not enchantments cast on it.
Shield spells are a weapon spell by themselves. You cant kill with a blade spell without another weapon, it is not a weapon spell
