Coffee Mug Knighthoods

Feel free to tell me that I'm an idiot and should be diced and served to Arilou as milkshake for this idea, but...

I think we should have regional-based knighthoods in the game. What I mean is that a player should be able to receive a knighthood, and therewith a title of Sir or Lady, from the various monarch NPCs already in the game. This would allow characters to declare loyalty to a particular region in Wyvern.

To be worthy of a knighthood, the player would have to complete a quest, preferable having something to do with that kingdom. Immediately after completing the quest, the monarch NPC would ask the player something like, "Will you accept a knighthood of my kingdom? If so, declare your loyalty by typing 'pledge fealty.'"

For example, to obtain a knighthood of Varak, the player would have to finish the Eye of the Dragon quest. After finishing, the Dwarven king would ask the character if he or she wanted a knighthood. If so, the character could then be listed as "Sir Ffarin the Adventurer."

I don't envision any stat or skill benefits from this, it's primarily for RP purposes. So that way, you wouldn't have to worry too much about balance problems.

And yes, I do realize that this would involve wizard work and would not be likely to finished anytime soon.

It's a good idea, but the titles should be way harder to obtain then completing a quest. And all the different knighthoods need different titles. Also, it could replace the current "Hall of famer" name with something different, like: Machuno the Varakian, or some other silly title.

Why don't you just add the suffix "Sir" to the beginning of your character's name and type "of Varak" for your description and then slap yourself into that there blender.

I think this would save a lot of people a lot of time... Anywho, what's the point of this except for just having the Sir in front of your character.

"For example, to obtain a knighthood of Varak, the player would have to finish the Eye of the Dragon quest. After finishing, the Dwarven king would ask the character if he or she wanted a knighthood."

...the title's going to somehow explain that the knighthood is of, in fact, <insert city here> and not somewhere else?

Well, I can get a milkshake somewhere else.

O_o I'm sorry, sometimes I make no sense. I modified it slightly, hoping that the clarification would help the reader ...and if that doesn't work, then:

"I think we should have regional-based knighthoods in the game. What I mean is that a player should be able to receive a knighthood, and therewith a title of Sir or Lady, from the various monarch NPCs already in the game. This would allow characters to declare loyalty to a particular region in Wyvern." (as quoted from the first post)

I was wondering how the title would refer to whatever region the player received knighthood from. I suppose that, b/c this is only for gameplay purposes, that clarifying the region that X player is loyal to would help ...sorry. Am I missing something important?

Well good luck convincing the wizards to put in the effort just to add something you could just put into your description... Just join the Paladin Guild if you wanna be a Knight. I think guilds are exactly what you are thinking of.
