Meditation
Anybody else here a meditator?
I just started last night. It's freaky cool O_O. When I entered the meditation state I thought I passed out, but I was still awake. If anybody's curious http://youtube.com/watch?v=e0rSmxsVHPE&feature=related =]

Does going blank and entering your own little "world" count as meditation. I was always told it was not paying attention.

If you ever "snap back" from meditation you aren't doing it properly.

Yes, I've been into meditation for about a year now, off and on. I've resolved to meditate daily (and have been so far successful) for about a half hour each day. I've gone on some mind-bending trips, but that's not the primary goal of meditation, in my case. That loopy, tranquil feeling that comes during / after meditation has lasted a full day, once, for me. I literally couldnt stop smiling. It would be interesting if someone were to keep a "meditation diary," depicting all of the experiences and successes achieved during meditation, over, say, a year.
Meditation to me is more about introspection, gaining understanding of the world around myself, balancing my energy, and countless other objectives. And remember, don't concentrate too hard! Ok, I just wanted to use that smiley, so I made it fit! Muahahaha Actually, I didn't watch that posted video until after I posted initially, but I disagree fully with it. At first, he says that one can assume any posture that feels comfortable. He then proceeds to tell you exactly how to sit and concentrate. There are countless ways of meditating, and countless things to focus on when trying to achieve this state of mind: Breath, music, a point inside yourself; the list goes on. Eyes open or closed also depend on the type of meditation, or rather, the culture meditating. So, the lesson here: If you feel something works better than the video describes as "the right way to meditate," you're probably right. It's an entirely personalized experience, and there is NO WRONG WAY TO DO IT. Last edited by rakk : 08-11-2008 at 12:08 PM. |
