Help on my new Computer

Ok, so I got my new computer today, a macbook. Which is suppose to have java already installed on it, yet I need to ask a question (I am kinda directing this question towards Teshuvah, because she is a computer genius, or was with my last problem). The problem is, when I download the client for Mac, I get the JExpressinstaller thing, but when it goes to open it nothing else happens. So I checked my error log and it said "Thu May 1 15:52:59 2008 Unable to find JRE 1.4.1 on your system.
Thu May 1 15:52:59 2008 Please install the JVM and re-start this installer."

So does anyone know what I do to fix this, or find the downloadable. . . whatever it is I need.

By the way, this is one sweet computer, I loved the startup with the flying in space thing, very cool.

Are you downloading the linux/pure java version?

No, I was downloading the MacOsX version. Should I download the linux version? 0_0

yeah you should. And then if it doesn't work right away restart your computer.

Ok, that one worked. New problem, when I try to move with my arrow keys it appears as a unrecognized command, and yet I can't put that symbol in to alias it, how do I fix that? ^_^

I attempted to copy and past the arrow, but it shows up as a illegal character.

Is that with just the arrow keys, or the arrow keys AND the numpad? Try moving with the numpad, that might work. That also lets you move diagonally without clicking, very useful.

Yeah Your thinking of the number pad that is off to the side, this is a laptop, and hence the only number pad I have is horizontal across the top. Plus I have all that currently aliased.

Yeah some laptops have weird commands for keys.
\ isnt \ it's slash.etc. So I have to alias slash not \.

Just alias the "unrecognized command" whatever it says, to what you want it to be Salk. arrow_up to go north, whatever it is saying.

To alias the weird commands, you need to find the code for them.
It's usually an alt-###. Look up ascii code on google and see if you can find your specific ones.
It also maybe a mac thing and sadly, although you think Im a computer genius, I don't do MAC and maybe someone else can help.

Ok I am found this as some ones response online.

Don't know if that is them, I'll continue looking to see what I can find, I'm also trying to see if I can alias it using that in any way. Suggestions?

Ok, I made an alias use J,K,L, and I so that I can move, at least until I figure out how to get my arrow keys working. I also submitted an idea to Eliminate ← as an illegal character, so as to make future incidents more simple.

As a side note, once I (after all the help is done (lol)) I will make a seperate post in the forums about how to fix this for other Mac users, for the future.

Wow, you are having all types of trouble. Go find and download the newest version of java for your computer and we will go from that route

Go to Best Buy or Sears or where ever and spend the ten bucks to get a USB plug+play numpad. I did, works wonders.
