Default Mac Java download

I'm trying to get Java 1.5.0_13 on my Mac for OS 10.4.10. I found the download at apple.com, which is where the Java/Sun linked me to go. Then I downloaded the pure java version of the Wyvern Map editor and after I downloaded Java it still says I need Java 1.5.0_13.

Currently I have 1.5 and 1.4, which is enough for the regular pure java Wyvern application, but not for the Map Editor.

Here is the link to the Java download.
http://developer.apple.com/java/download/

Has any mac player/wizard tried to download it and install? When I try and open the map editor it still says I need to update Java.

I had the same problem, and thanks goes to Contrare for this fix that got it working on my comp. I think this only works if you have Mapeditor installed in the right directory so make sure you haven't added any extra folders or such.

You need to open Terminal, which is in your Applications -->Utilities folder, or just search "terminal" in finder. Looks like a black box with >_ in the corner. Open it, and in the window type "cd /wyvern/mapedit" without the quotes. Now if you type "ls" (that's L S) you should get a list of the files in that directory. Now copy and paste this into the window..

java -cp mapedit.jar:jython.jar:skinlf.jar:xmlrpc.jar: .:wyvern -Dwyvern.home="/wyvern/mapedit/wyvern" wyvern.tools.editor.MapEdit

and hopefully it works :d

I tried the pasting the last line and got this:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /:wyvern

I guess that means it didn't work...

Thats not a fun error to have. It usually means the file containing the main java class is missing or damaged, which means the .jar is broken. Either that or the batch used to make the .jar left a line out. I'd bet if you reinstall the editor and the java patch and try again you'll have better luck.

I tried it again and it didn't work.

Why does the wyvern application work when I play the game, but the map editor doesn't work?

... luck?

Its possible that the .ini file in your map editor is looking for java in a different place than where its downloaded.

Well, I am not a mac person, but try to go in your terminal and typing java -version should hopefully show you the version that is actually used by default.

1.6 is the newest one. You now have 1.5.0 but it needs 1.5.0_13. If you get the 1.6, you should be fine :-)
You can get it here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
