Problem with updating on Ubuntu (Linux)

Okay, after a bit of trouble I got Wyvern installed on my computer in the /wyvern/client/ directory. I couldn't figure out how to make a launcher, so I ignored that part, since it isn't required to play (right?).

I then tried running wyvernclient, and it seems to work, except it gets stuck on the JExpress Updater, telling me that it's "Getting list of updated files". The progress bar fills up, and then restarts, in a never ending loop. When I run it in the terminal (with sudo, since it doesn't give the proper permissions without it), I get this message, repeatedly and very very fast:

Exception: java.net.UnknownHostException: Ubuntu-laptop: Ubuntu-laptop
Exception: java.net.UnknownHostException: Ubuntu-laptop: Ubuntu-laptop
Exception: java.net.UnknownHostException: Ubuntu-laptop: Ubuntu-laptop
ect... after a while, it stops saying this and just says "java.lang.StackOverflowError" once.
