Default Increased difficulty

Wyvern could use some kind of difficulty mode (like Hardcore) for more experienced players to have a challange. You could choose to either have a normal character or a hardcore character when you create a new character.

Hardcore characters should not be allowed to use potions, scrolls, wands and rods. They also shouldn't be able to buy or sell items at the auction house.

They could visit special hardcore-only areas and maybe get a reward at level 25. Also have the opportunity to be on a hardcore score list.

Tell me what you think.

I just think there are more important things to implement than this.

You know what you COULD do to make the game a whole lot harder. Make a character, and dont spend a SINGLE skill point, then hof. Oh, and dont wear any items either. I would make you an emoticon trophy if you could do pull that off. Especially with a pixie.

All you need to do this are some bored friends who want to have a laugh.

Why would someone climb Mount Everest knowing full well they are doing to get their feet sawed off because of frostbite, there are far far far more important things like global issues concerning hunger, slavery, war etc.

A better idea has been proposed in the past. Basically after you reach certain requirements such as possibly level, xp, beating a unique quest, etc., you are able to be reborn into another race which is level 1 with 0 xp and has none of your items. None of the races you can choose to be reborn into are among the ones newcomers can currently pick. One or more can be designed specifically to be a challenge for the player. For example, you could pick a Goblin which is always going to be weaker, stupider, and much less capable than all other races. Getting to level 25, beating others on the high scores, and so on, as a Goblin would be the goal one would seek to achieve by picking that race.

Disclaimer: I make no claim of endorsement toward this idea nor do I make any claim that it is being taken seriously by any wizards. I am simply pointing out that it is a better way of getting what the original poster wanted and leaving so you people can continue your discussion.

Thats a pretty awesome idea! Maybe getting to pick out of a few stupid races, perhaps with really cool pics to make them nice and snazzy so you can show off your skills quite openly. Hehehe, how about a 'really fat human' for a new race you could choose? They need to be constantly eating or they suffer damage hehehe.

What if there were 3 tiers.

Standard races: Elf, Human, Giant, Rak, Naga, Dwarf, Pixie, Halfling
Immortal races: Undead Human, Demonic shifter, Earth Spirit, Wind spirit
Ascended races: Demon, Angel

Glossary:

Undead Humans: traits: healing spells damage them. Only vampire blade gives them HP (and then only when they attack a living thing.)

Demonic shifter: traits: have special shift forms, however if thier alignment ever gets nuetral or (horrors!) good, they lose this ability and are "stuck" in the form they were in at time of alignment shift.

Earth Spirit: traits: have special earth element spells, cannot use magic from any other element.

Wind Spirit: traits: incredibly high dodge, however, they cannot wear any thing (not even rings, ammys.) to compensate, they fly, have natural speed, and vast amounts of mana.

Demon: traits: If a demon character attains a "good" alignment they will instantly die and lose all thier levels and xp and be restarted as a level 1 Immortal (of a random type). as compensation, once per boot, they can Insta kill (from anywhere) any Immortal character that is logged on. If an Immortal character has been killed by a demon that boot another demon cannot kill him.

Angel: traits: If an angel character attains an "evil" alignment they will instantly die and lose all thier levels and xp and be restarted as a level 1 Immortal (of a random type). As compensation, once per boot, they can Ressurect (from anywhere) any Immortal character that is logged on. If an Immortal character has been resurected by an angel that boot another angel cannot resurect him.

Attaining Immortality:
To attain Immortality, you must be level 30 have completed several (really tough) quests. and have collected 6 really rare LQ prizes. once all those criterion are met, the LQ items, quest points, gold, xp, and items are consumed and given a value. these are then turned into "Tokens" and can then be spent on "Special Abilities" for your Immortal character. Then once you have selected your new character, and It's "Special Abilites" (If it has enough Tokens.) you are reborn as a new character with no items, gold, or xp.

Attaining Demon/Angel hood:
When an Immortal Attains level 30 and has completed 10 Immortal only quests, has acumulated 10 (uber) rare items from said quests (not the quest prizes.) and has a perfect alignment (either perfectly evil, or perfectly good.) can them attain the next assention. (If Evil then Demon hood, if Good then Angel hood.) All xp, gold, LQ items, quest points, and items, are consumed and tallied into "Tokens" and can then be spent on "Special Abilities" before they attain thier Demon/Angel hood.

Tokens: These are used to buy "special abilities" when one assends. Tokens cannot be saved. Tokens are extremely expensie and require a lot of work before assention to get even one. (I.E 100M Gold counts as 1 Token, 1 LQ prize counts as 1 Token, each level above 30 counts as 1 Token.)

Special Abilities: These are special inate abilites that you can start with. everything from spells, to exra HP/MP can be purchased using Tokens. Higher level (or more useful) abilities can cost over 30 Tokens. While cosmetics, and less useful abilities, cost very little (as low as 1 Token... duh...)
