Down-- Again??

Today, www.cabochon.com has not been loading for me, and I cannot log in to Wyvern, either. This has been worrying me, since these are the same symptoms that Wyvern showed 15 months ago, when it shut down. Is it just my computer, or can others not log in either?

I only found out it was up yesterday.. and now its down again

No one is sure what happened, this is not the same as 15 months ago because we were told why and who was taking it down temporarily. Chances are the ISP took a break, and took their service with them. To Jamaica or South Africa or something. So take a break and get outside, or sloth around the forums like the rest of us.

I'll sloth around. Oh, I had forgotten that R announced that he was taking the server down. Now this thread must look pretty menacing o_o.

But I have another question.
When do you think the game will be back up?

Same for me. and took me a while to find my character codes, so I barely played for when i logged in, it was only 5 minutes to reboot.

The game went down at sometime around midnight 12/31/07. We aren't sure of the exact time nor is it important actually.
Why? We have no idea.
It is the FTP, Web page and game itself, which leads us to assume it's ISP related. Note I said assume, and you know how that goes.
If it is the ISP, they are not open today to "Reboot" or "plug it back in" or whatever is necessary (dont laugh , plug it back in has happened before in years past) as it is a holiday. Nor do we know when they will be available.
If it is the ISP and/or something more serious that needs Rhialto's attention, again, we have no idea when the game will be back up.
We have not heard from Rhialto at this point.
That should stop all the speculation.
If/when we hear something that is from the R's mouth itself we'll let you know, until then, Carry on...

I have no beliefs that the game will be down without quick reprieve, because as I understand Rhialto has 1. More time, or, failing that, 2. a greater dedication. To have the game stumble and die after 6 days is truly embarrassing, and even if it is indeed a serious problem with the ISP, I won't lose heart.

There's too much at stake. It'd literally be hanging the treat above everyone's heads, letting them get a lick, and pulling it back and letting it fall into a bottomless chasm.

I have faith, at any rate.

Is there an ETA on this server screw up?? I just come back with big expectations and then 3 days later the server is down again... kind of heartbreaking...

cmon guys... better this way than waiting another year without any information. at least we know rhialto is willing to bring the game back and probably it´s not his fault. maybe it´s a small isp and they have no 24/7 emergency team. if u look at the pages listed in whois this is very likely.
so... the server has crashed... there´s no way to remote reset him and we have to wait till the guy with the donut will press reset or plugs it in again :-)
i´m happy that binsenkind is recovered again and i can login, even if it only was for 10 minutes so far )

The issue is almost definately ISP related. Either that or the actual server went pop. Either way you cannot connect to Rhialto's server for mail, ftp, web or the game.

But the bonus is these sorts of problems Rhialto can shout at other people and pass the buck to try and get it sorted leaving him free to tinker like only R knows how,

We've heard from Rhialto.
It is the ISP.
He can't contact them until they open sometime today. (wednesday 1/2)
Once they come in and hear his message (or however he reaches them) we can only hope its a simple fix. Since we have no idea what is actually wrong at the ISP, we don't know how long it will be.
Rhialto hopes it is back up today.
