It might help if you gave some more info about the "not working" part.

When I open the application, I get a error message:

The header reads:

"You can't open the application "Wyvern Map Editor" because it requires a version of Java that is not available.

The body reads:

"This application requires a "1.5.0_13" version of java. The available java version "1.5" may be able to open this application, but may not work correctly.

So, when I click "Use 1.5" the application just quits.

That is the problem I'm having.

Sorry, should have put that in there earlier.

P.S. I've downloaded and installed all of the latest updates from Apple using software update and still this problem persists.

Obviously apple doesn't have a version of java that can run the map editor on your computer. You can try to find one online, send a memo to apple to see what they have available, or you can switch to a dell.

for the game, you should use the generic (e.g. linux) version. The mac version is dated & broken. Have you tried the same for the map editor?

Thanks for the link but unfortunately mac os x isn't listed as one of the platforms and I thought linux might work but I cant unzip the file.

I'm using the pure java/cross platform version for the game and that works fine but the pure java/cross platform version of the map editor is whats giving me this problem.

As Salkand said, I'll send apple an e-mail to see if they have any download to offer and I'll try finding one online as well.
