odds of death by dray

Hello-

Last night reaper dray got me. Lvl 22(woot! finally), w/ a dpro amulet. What's people's experiences with this? Should I consider it an anomaly or is dray just too likely to kill me at this lvl so I should run and hide? At what level do people find it very rarely kills them?

I think with just dpro ammy lv 25 to be really safe but people say there's always still a small chance of dying even then. I think like 20+ with dpro ammy and 1 plat piece would be safe

humm.....greater protection. really? I thought gPro was just more protection - in general, protection absorbs hp of damage. Does gPro amulet really provide protection against dray?? I'm skeptical....

In my experience greater protection offers protection against
- recoil
- most if not all spells including fireball, umm.. ice-ball? (whatever. mages and their stinkin spells) and death ray
- physical damage :S swords and what not.

Protection is about 5% (complete guess), so for it to be effective i would wear a dpro amulet and 1-2 rings (2 rings if I had a mage providing resists, just 1 ring otherwise) while facing Dray between lvls 20-25.

Strangely enough, the map editor lists G-pro amulets as only giving 2 AC, no protection. Although one cannot say they are necessarily that way now. I suspect G-pro amulets give 2 protection. Which protects against all damage types by exactly the amount of protection provided. So, 2 protection = 2 less damage all over. I am extremely skeptical that protection helps at all against death ray, but some players insist that it does.

In response to the original post. You should be safe from reapers at level 25 with a d-pro amulet, seemingly. Until then, it is still likely you will be killed. 20+ with one piece of platinum armor was also quite safe for me, if I remember correctly.

I've been death rayed 3 times with 4 pieces of platinum armor and an amulet of death protection on.

Actually it was a reaper once and an ak rak twice. I think the ak'rak in the mini gauntlet have super death rays or something because the only two that hit me killed me, despite my dpro amulet and platinum armor. D:
