Mac OS X question

hey guys, I just bought a macbook pro laptop today and I was wondering, would I need to put any security software on it or no? I was told by the salesperson that I wouldn't need to, is this true?

oh yeah, I think I should mention that I'm using mac os x leopard

It never hurts to put it on your mac. You probably will not need it, but I have it on mine, just in case.

What do you mean by security software? There's a firewall activated by default and viruses of any kind are very uncommon.

But hey, better safe than sorry, I guess...

You probably won't have a problem with it, but viruses and security exploits, even though rarer, can still affect Macs. I would invest in it and run it every couple of weeks just to be safe..it being an Antivirus program and an antispyware program. You might also want to look at a firewall.
