Here is my thought on a new race. Kind of like the plant monster you talked about but I based it more on the dragon in Crossfire and Naga. (had it written down before reading this post.)
Blood
A demon that can assuming new elemental forms.
Starting Stats(The starting HP and MP should be changed)
50hp +5 each level
50mp +5 each level
3 skill points a level
+2 regeneration
weak darksight
see invis
It starts out able to assume 4 forms: (forms don't have recoil)
Normal-Start out in it. Nothing bad or good about it.
Fire-Added fire damage(along with other fire bonuses) and weak vs water.(releases light)
Water-Added ice damage(along with other water bonuses) and weak vs water.(effective water walk)
Earth-Greater resistance to melee(along with + to Strength) and weaker vs magic.Another effect is slower movement.(dig and excavation will do great damage to this form)
The forms are changed by typing (assume <form>) exa. assume fire
It takes time after changing a form before you can change again.(To prevent spamming)
<Your form is still unstable you have to wait before you may change again. wait 30 min>
Death will cancel this effect and put you back into normal form.
Form timer is set up as such: 30 min when level 1 and 40 secs taken away each level after.(time scale should be changed)
Level 1=30:00
Level 2=29:20
Level 5=27:20
Level 10=24:00
Level 20=16:00
Level 25(hof)=12:40
