trouble installing

ok, so, I've made a character, and I downloaded the mac version of the installer.

I opeaned the installer, and it said:

Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 (build 8S2167)

preparing wizard...

preparing wizard...
searching for JVM...

after clinking on thing, moving them to the applications folder, and clicking on them again, I decided that I must have the wrong Java and did a search for JRE 1.4.1

I was taken right to a download site, but of course, nothing on the internet in that easy.

I was faced with two options, and being more familur with the coffe-cup logo, I clicked on that one.

then there where about seven different sets of Java tool packages, which is wierid, because the one I didn't click on said it was the editor's tools. I assumed I was in the right place anyway, and picked the biggest tool package that had an intel mac version.

so after that downloads, I give it another try, no luck.

I restart, and then give it another try.

nothing.

so I start clicking on the new Java icons, waiting for something to happen.

It says there's an update for something called netbeans. not knowing what else to do, I let it up date, then click on the installer again, then restart, and click on the installing again.

while I do these things, the installer says:

Unable to find JRE 1.4.1 on your system
Configuring the installer...
Searching for JVM on the system...
Extracting installation data...
Running the installer wizard...
Preparing wizard...
Searching for JVM...

and then it waits, and then it says:

Unable to find JRE 1.4.1 on your system.

and then goes on to say:

2008-05-06 21:34:07.911 SyndicationAgent[1484] WARNING: BestCalendarDateFromString - can't interpret:
'Tue 06 May 2008 14:56:25 -800

and it says this about 28 times.

my errors.log that appeared when I downloaded the installer says:

Tue May 6 20:varrying number:varrying number 2008 Unable to find JRE 1.4.1 on your system
Tue May 6 20:varrying number: varrying number 2008 Please install the JVM and re-start this installer

about as many times as I've clicked the installer.

the jinstall.log says a lot of stuff that I don't have a fraction of the patience it would take to copy, but it is basicly saying:

incorrect version of jvm found.

I tried clicking the contact us links on the site, but .mail kept on getting in the way telling me that's not the right password and asking for money, so I decided the forums would be easier.

congrats on the forums by the way, not all forums are as easy to register for as yours. bravo.

I run mac os X tiger on a 17-inch macbook pro.

so what am I do'n wrong?

Download the linux/unix/pure java version. The Mac version just doesn't work. The linux/unix/pure java version will.

Or just click here: http://www.cabochon.com/downloads/je...ne/install.jar
