stonegiant axeman thougts and questions

Im thinking of playing a giant axesmith up, but I've come across a few questions here's my rough thoughts on the build for 25 and lmk where im going wrong, apologies in advance for my scrubness and lack of memory on this

First what's so important about the 20 strength number?
Second an axe skill of 46 is what im looking for crafting wise, might require lvl 26 tho, and how bad will this hurt me rding?

23 blacksmithing(5 from guild)
46 axe(20 guild)
15 healing(5 guild)
11 strength
10 find weakness

And im looking at some play in the str healing and find weakness, possibly going life and meditation for primary healing even with the negatives from guild, so yeah that's what im thinking pls be gentle I havnt thought about one of.these in a while

Thanks for your opinions

The axeguild gives 10 axes, 5 healing, 5 find-weakness, and 5 strength. And you are missing spirit travel, which is very important because you can't be invincible now. As a stone giant, your limited mana is going to make spell healing pretty much impossible, but as a stone giant you have more than enough hp to not need to spell heal anyway. Just grab some potions and train the healing skill.

20 is maximum strength.

Ok sec I was working off bad info, got to process for a second,
is find weakness also capped at 20?
And is it possible to train 36 axes at 25?

Trayr 03-19-2011 04:46 PM

Find Weakness also caps at 20.

You can only train a skill up to your level, so at level 25 you can only train 25 axes. Any other bonuses in the skill count however (guild bonus, rings of the perfect axemen, that kind of thing).

Aww my dreams of a massive balanced light diamond axe may be perishing lol id have to be like lvl 36 incredibly lucky and rich to make it work then

Trayr 03-19-2011 04:52 PM

I don't think massive axes exist. I know there are massive swords and clubs, but I have never seen a massive axe.

thedib 03-19-2011 04:52 PM

Wait rings of the perfect axeman, what is the bonus and do they stack? Thanks for all the info btw

Yah dunno if they exist or not tbh but it would be interesting to.find out

Trayr 03-19-2011 04:55 PM

Rings of the perfect axeman give +3 axe skill, and you can wear two of them.

Hmm lvl 30 is still an incredibly long ways away, but people have gotten thee before

Ok second draft
35 axe(10 guild) 25 points
20 findweakness(5 guild)15 points
20 str (5 guild 2 girdle 5 potion)8 points
15 healing(5 guild)10 points
4 spirit travel
13 blacksmithing

With 10 points going bs and 5 going axes enroute to 30

I'd plan on it taking about a year to reach level 30, just so you know. People have gotten there before, but very few in recent times. The 29-30 gap is a massive amount of XP.

thedib 03-19-2011 07:58 PM

Yah kinda figured that was still.the same lol, but its impossible to get there without starting

You might want to consider dumping the idea of blacksmithing all together and slapping those points onto spirit travel/healing. I'm not sure how useful blacksmith is at such a low level but I doubt it's worth it.

Kinda defeats the point then tbh, true I could just respec once I got there, but who really enjoys having to respec to craft, rather its just a part of the toon

You could always buy off other, fully trained, smiths. I'm sure there are some out there (maybe). Though in the end, you are just going to end up using gem weapons (which never break) anyway.

thedib 03-19-2011 10:17 PM

Do you mean diamond or is gem something new

Gem. Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst etc axes. I'm sure they are over 2 and a half years old, so not really new. They are very strong and never break but they do give negative 3 spirit travel (which you can easily out-train).

thedib 03-19-2011 10:23 PM

Interesting, you could say its been a while since I've played

Crier 03-20-2011 12:04 AM

So, there are no massive axes, FW doesn't cap at 20 but no one really knows if it is worth it or not (last I knew it didn't cap). I wouldn't do stone giant, they get massive hp yes, however, they are really slow, and axes aren't the fastest of weapons. If you want a smith I would just use a dwarf sio much easier to be able to train fully and smith at the same time.

Trayr 03-20-2011 12:26 AM

Find weakness caps at 20 buddy.

thedib 03-20-2011 01:24 AM

The dwarf thing makes some sense, but there. Would be alot more than just some hp given up tho, plus on the off chance that the wizards do put in a massive axe option, not crazy unrealistic seeing as how there's already massive swords and clubs, the fact that there isn't almost seems more of a bug or oversite, but then again who can predict the minds of wizards? The bs system has been around a while I know so it might be exactly how they want it,

I think this has kinda lost focus on what I was trying to get out of this, but the stone giant and the axe smithing combned score of 70 between axes and blacksmithing for diamond slabs, are kinda the base its the points after that that were a bit foggy
